Monday Year 26 Week 6 01/11/10

*41 running tonight, getting some of my unraced or rarely raced steeplechasers out and about, plus the usual fillers and a few that I just threw into some races for the heck of it.

Anger Issues - 4-year-old chase mare - $10 purchase.Second start for me and her second start over the hurdles, came in fourth first time out with an unimpressive 61 SF. Tonight she's in a 10K MSW at a shorter distance, ten horse field. Hasn't raced since week 1. 3 52

Astral Queen - 5-year-old chase mare - She injured a stifle in week 1 coming in second in a MSW. Tonight she's back in action in a 12K MSW, eight horse field. She's not terribly fast so I'm not really expecting too much here. 4 56

Big Country Fun - 4-year-old dirt route gelding - He's becoming a regular filler for me, running in a 10K MSW, three horse field. 1 55

Can't Stop The Sun - 2-year-old AW filly - First start, she'll (hopefully) be more of a miler+ type horse but starting her off in a 6 1/2 F 50K listed stakes, five horse field to see if she takes to the AW at all, she had pretty good works over all three surfaces, not lightning fast on any but leaning more towards AW and dirt. Three of the horses in this race have already won one with decent speed figures. I'll be happy if she shows any effort at all. 4 38

Dreaming Mojave - 4-year-old chase filly - Third start for me, second start chasing, second first time out with a speed figure of 77. Tonight she's in a 20K MSW, nine horse field. 2 75

Epic Farewell - 4-year-old dirt route colt - Steward-bred He's running tonight in a 75K listed stakes, nine horse field. He may be over his head here but he hasn't raced since week 2 so needs to stretch his legs. I'll probably drop him to allowances again soon. 8 36 :(

Euridice - 3-year-old turf filly - Usually she runs as a filler for me but a sixth horse showed up and I decided to let her run since this is only a 12K MSW, six horse field.

Expedite - 4-year-old dirt sprint gelding - Steward-bred. He'll probably be a filler soon, he's gotten the "flattened out" comment in his last three races. so I'm thinking he's lost any edge he had. Most of his siblings seem to have tailed off after their 3-year-old seasons. Running tonight in a 25K sponsored NW4, six horse field. 5 48

Feasibly - 4-year-old dirt mile gelding - Usual filler running in a 50K claimer with a purse of 15K and a full field. He hasn't raced since week 1 so I thought I'd try him with a fuller field and see how he does. Just for the heck of it. 9 35

Foot the Bill - 4-year-old chase filly - First start for me, just paid 1K for her last week, second start over the jumps. Has a 7th place finish in her first test under her old owner. Thought I'd give her a try. She's in a 20K MSW, full field, no idea how she'll do. Stripped off all of the gobs of equipment and just left the lasix since she's had it for a while. After this she'll probably go to New Zealand and some lighter fields.

Golden Warrior - 3-year-old dirt route filly - She hasn't broken her maiden in four starts but she's been knocking on the door. Tonight she's in a 75K listed stakes, five horse field. I don't think she'll be breaking her maiden here as I think she'll want to go farther than this short route. 4 49

Haunted By Night - 4-year-old dirt route filly - She has six OTB placings in ten starts, fairly consistent. Tonight she's in a very long route, 12K starter allowance, three horse field, one of the other horses is one of my good long distance fillers. Everyone will earn something in this race, not sure how she'll end up since I think it is a little long for her. 3 52

Holder Hall - 5-year-old dirt route gelding - DTD. He's running in a 32K claimer with a full field and a 10K purse. 3 55

Icarus Flight - 4-year-old dirt filly - She's running in a 75K listed stakes, originally as a filler but at the last minute a sixth horse showed up - she's probably hopelessly outclassed in this field. I can always hope for a miracle! 6 35

Impala - 3-year-old filly - Strictly a filler, she's running in a 12K MSW, five horse field. 5 13

Journey's End - 5-year-old dirt mile gelding - $10 purchase Second start fror me, running in a 15K MSW, four horse field. 4 39

Let Faith Guide - 5-year-old chase gelding - One win in four starts, this is his first start for this year. He's running in a 15K NW2 with a full field of other one time winners. 5 64

Loki First - 4-year-old dirt route filly - Running tonight in a 10K MSW, four horse field. She has a shot, I think. 1 65

Magnet X - 4-year-old dirt route filly - $10 purchase. Second start for me, running in a 50K claimer with a 10K purse, ten horse field. Just to see if she has anything at all. 10 15

Matter of Trust - 3-year-old dirt gelding - Filler running in a 15K NW2, four horse field, only one winner in this field. 4 39

Naskra's Luck - 5-year-old dirt route gelding - $10 purchase, second start for me. Running in a 25K maiden claimer with a 12K purse and a nine horse field. 3 54

Never Left Behind - 3-year-old AW mile filly - First start for me, gift filly that I think may be a sprinter at heart and hopefully likes AW, this is her first start on it but she seems to have hated the dirt. She's running in a 12K MSW with a full field. I'm just hoping to see a decent effort out of her. Running her with no equipment too, so I can see just what she does. 11 12

Night Melodies - 2-year-old turf sprint filly - Second start, running in a sponsored 25K MSW, eight horse field. 6 42

Nuclear - 4-year-old dirt route colt - Fairly consistent, running in a sponsored 75K listed stakes, four horse field. He usually likes longer but he'll earn something here.

Orlando - 5-year-old chase gelding - He has five OTB finishes in eight starts but none have them been for a win. Tonight he's in a 10K MSW, six horse field. 1 70

Personal Days - 4-year-old chase filly - $10 purchase, second start for me and second start over the hurdles. She's running in a 20K MSW with a full field. 4 62

Personal Demon - 3-year-old turf mile gelding - Running in a restricted 15K MSW, seven horse field. 1 56

Point Royale - 4-year-old chase gelding - Second start chasing, running in a 10K MSW, six horse field. 3 46

Reach the World - 6-year-old chase mare - She has eight OTB finishes chasing out of eleven starts, three of them are wins. I think her best SF was only a 77, though. Tonight she's in a 25K claimer, six horse field and a purse of 12K. There's a few others that look like they might be better. 3 66

Scotland Winds - 3-year-old turf mile filly - Third start for me, I bought her at auction for 5K and she won a Grade 3 the first time out - not a terribly impressive feat considering her SF was only 58 in that race. Tonight she's running in a 15K classified allowance, three horse field. 3 55

Serenity Prevails - 3-year-old dirt sprint filly - Filler running in a 15K MSW, four horse field. None of these horses are any good so it's a toss up. 1 61

Silent Auction - 3-year-old turf sprint gelding - Second start for me, first at a sprint (ran at a mile and routes previously). Running in a 12K MSW, five horse field. 3 47

Silent Melody - 4-year-old chase gelding - Second start chasing, came in second first time out, tonight he's running in a 100K listed stakes, six horse field. Another one where he would have been a filler but someone else entered at the last minute.

Songs About Rain - 6-year-old chase mare - She's running in a 12K NW3, ten horse field. This is her first race of the year. I've decided to take off all of her equipment except lasix for the first time. 7 40

Strange Meeting - 3-year-old dirt route filly - Filler running in a 75K listed stakes, five horse field. Two winners, the others all seem to be fillers. 4 45

Swamper - 5-year-old dirt route mare - $10 purchase, third start for me, won her first two starts for me. Tonight she's in a 12K starter allowance, three horse field.
