Monday Year 26 Week 7 01/18/10

28 running tonight, steeplechasers, fillers, 2-year-olds and some that I'm hoping will do better than what they appear.

Acamas - 5-year-old chase gelding - Hasn't done a whole lot chasing, but more than he did on the flats. Tonight he's running in a 22.5K claimer with a purse of 10K and a field of eight. 7 23

Aces High - 6-year-old chase gelding - Has six OTB finishes out of nine starts, three wins but struggles in stakes. He's running in a 65K Grade 3 stakes, five horse field.

Ali Pasha - 3-year-old turf route gelding - Second start for me in a 15K MSW at a long route, six horse field. His sire was a long router who matured late, hoping this guy will do better at the longer distance. 5 35

Aspen Midnight - 4-year-old chase filly - This is her second start over the jumps, came in fourth first out. She's running in a 12K MSW, ten horse field, one of the other horses is also mine. A couple first time starters in this field, all the others have only one start. 6 63

Big Guns - 3-year-old AW route gelding - Won his first start on AW, this is his second start on this surface in a sponsored 25K NW2, seven horse field. I hope he can get up for a piece of it at the end. 6 37

Bilk - 5-year-old chase mare - She's hit the board in all three of her chasing starts but still hasn't broken her maiden. Tonight she runs in a 10K MSW, nine horse field, and again one of the other horses is mine. 5 48

Brighter - 2-year-old dirt mile filly - First start, running in a 30K MSW, nine horse field, all but one are first time starters. There's a possibility that she may prefer some short to middle routes. 1 62

Demand - 5-year-old chase mare - First start over the hurdles, second start for me, running in a 20K MSW with a full field. 7 55

Dirie - 4-year-old dirt mile filly - Running in a 15K NW2, eleven horse field. Not really expecting too much from her here, probably outclassed but hoping to see some effort. 11 25

Face Value - 3-year-old turf gelding - Filler running in a 20K MSW, four horse field, it's a toss-up here. 3 45

Folk - 3-year-old dirt mile filly - She's running in a 15K NW2, nine horse field. There's a slim chance that she brings home a check. 8 33

Fort - 5-year-old chase mare - Looking for her first OTB finish in her third chasing start. Running in a 20K MSW with a full field, not too sure she'll make it this time either. 10 40

Fortymile - 3-year-old AW filly - This is her first AW start, just in case she likes it, hasn't done too well on dirt. 15K NW3, four horse field. 4 31

Giggity Goo - 3-year-old dirt route filly - First start for me, second start overall. She may like a shorter distance, hard to tell from her works and one start. Tonight she's in a 20K MSW, seven horse field. 6 32

Guns and Daggers - 3-year-old dirt mile filly - Trying her out at a shorter distance tonight, 15K NW2 and a full field. She's done okay in routes but just seems to finish fourth too often, maybe the mile will do it for her. 8 39

Irocket - 4-year-old dirt route gelding - $10 purchase running in a 25K maiden claimer, seven horse field. 6 41

Kariya's Eyes - 3-year-old turf route filly - Four starts and one third place finish, running in a 15K MSW, five horse field. 3 46

Perfectly Magical - 4-year-old chase filly - First start chasing, hopefully it suits her better than flat racing did. She's running in a 10K MSW, nine horse field including stablemate Bilk, hope one of them can earn something here. 2 64

Singing The Blues - 6-year-old chase gelding - He's had five starts chasing, hit the board all five times including one win, but mediocre speed figures. Tonight he's in a 15K claimer, three horse field and a purse of 12K. Looks like he should win this one but you never know. 1 89

Spaceguard - 3-year-old AW mile filly - First start for me, first start on AW. She's in a 12K MSW with a full field. 6 34

Summa Theologica - 3-year-old AW filly - First start for me, first start on AW, I only bought her for $1 so can't lose too much on her. Tonight she's in a 12K NW3, five horse field. Two are one time winners, all others are maidens. 2 45

Sunday Minx - 6-year-old chase mare - She has four OTB finishes in five starts, tonight she's in a 12K NW3, six horse field that looks pretty competitive. 3 63

There You Are - 2-year-old AW sprint colt - Second start, first start was on dirt and he finished fourth. He's in a 15K MSW, eight horse field, a few first time starters in the field. 2 52

This I Gotta See - 3-year-old turf filly - Usually a filler but that dreaded sixth horse showed up! 15K allowance, six horse field, I won't be surprised if she's last. 6 31

Tupelo Honey - 5-year-old chase mare - Second start for me, second start chasing. Running in a 12K MSW, ten horse field including stablemate Aspen Midnight.

Twice Raised - 2-year-old sprint filly - Second start for this steward-bred, came in third first time out. She's in a 45K listed stakes, five horse field, no obvious monsters but I'll have to see how she does. One beat her in her first race. 5 47

Visage - 3-year-old dirt route filly - Came in second in a listed stakes last out but with a rather unimpressive speed figure of 57. Trying her at a long route tonight in a 15K MSW, seven horse field. 2 57

Yawn - 3-year-old dirt route colt - Second start for me, well bred colt that has underachieved so far in his race career. He's in a 15K MSW with a full field over a sloppy track and first time at a long route. He's actually the top earner in this field but somehow I don't think that will mean much. 10 15
