Friday Week 5 Year 25 9/4/09

19 horses running tonight, many of them are untried 2-year-olds so I'm not really expecting too much to come out of tonights racing.

Addison - 4-year-old dirt router filly - coming out of one of her worse finishes ever last race (10th) she's running in a NW2 at Flamingo Park, Florida. This isn't really her best distance and it's a full field with others that look better. 11 23

Amador - 2-year-old colt dirt miler - bred to be a miler but I have a feeling he might not be that good so decided to try him in a sprint. He was a 1K auction buy so I'm not risking too much with him either way. Running in a MSW in Kentucky with a full field, probably a lot that are better. 11 18

Face Value - 2-year-old turf miler colt - homebred - first start - another one bred to run a mile but I'm running shorter because I don't think he's going to be very good at any distance. Running in a restricted MSW in Kentucky. Almost all of the other horses in the field are also untested. 3 47

Give Candy - 2-year-old turf sprinter colt - another 1K auction buy - this is his first start running in a MSW in Norway only three other horses in the field so should bring home something. Everyone else has one race to their credit. 3 48

He Rules - 3-year-old dirt sprinter gelding -my ill-begotten first attempt at breeding as a new player. Running in a MSW in New Orleans. Others look more likely. 1 60

Joyride - 2-year-old turf sprinter filly - homebred - this is her second start, came in 8th first out. Running in a MSW in California and adding lasix and a tongue tie. Full field will probably be too much of a challenge for her. 10 25

Lucky Thirteen - 2-year-old turf sprinter colt - won the first time out in a restricted MSW in Europe with a SF of 60. Threw him in a listed stakes in England just to see how he performs with stiffer competion. Might as well take care of that boogeyman right off. Two other colts look to be potential monsters. 8 31

Magical Fan - 3-year-old turf sprinter filly - one of those bad 1K auction buys. She likes to come in 7th - a lot. She has four 7th place finishes (in a row). She was really bred to be a miler but I'm trying her at a sprint. Running in a $12.5 maiden claiming race in Kentucky with others that don't like to run fast. 3 48 SOLD

Never Better - 2-year-old dirt sprinter filly - this is her second start, came in 8th first time out. Running in a MSW in Maryland at a slightly longer distance. Adding a shadow roll. Full field. 12 25

Nuclear - 3-year-old dirt router colt - stretching him out tonight in a NW2 I sponsored for him in California. The field quickly filled as there aren't many long routes for the 3-year-olds yet. It looks like he might have a chance if he likes the added distance. 2 63

Perfect Hero - 3-year-old turf sprinter colt - a slightly better outcome with my new player breeding. He has two wins and a 3rd out of five starts. I put him in a Grade 3 stakes in France. I don't think he'll win, he may not even hit the board, but it's a small field of six horses and only two others have much better speed figures, the other three all run around the same as Perfect Hero - so I thought I'd give him a shot. I won't be disappointed if he doesn't do well since he may very well be in over his head but it will be a pleasant surprise if he manages to bring home a check. 4 49

Philadelphia Flyer - 5-year-old dirt router horse - running in a NW3 in Tennesse, he's been stakes placed before but runs cold and hot depending on his mood. Highest SF so far has been 68. I'll probably geld him after this race. He likes running long routes and tonights race is a short route but he's finished off the board in his last four races (three 4ths and a 7th), Not sure what to expect tonight. 3 59

Quisquose - 3-year-old turf miler filly - I'm actually holding on to this filly to see how she will do as a steeplechaser. Her breeding really lends itself more to chasing, her flat racing career has been horrible. Trying her in a 10K maiden claiming race in Italy. Full field. 11 26 SOLD

Sad Eyes - 2-year-old dirt sprinter filly - second start, finished 8th first out. Running in a longer sprint and adding lasix and tongue tie tonight. MSW in Lexington, Kentucky, full field. 4 53

Shootout - 5-year-old turf sprinter gelding - I think his sprint career is really over but I put him in a stakes race. He was given to me just a little while ago, though I do think he is just about at the end of his sprint career. Doubt he'll even hit the board.
5 50

Sneak Around - 3-year-old turf router gelding - stretching him out to a longer route tonight, an allowance in Italy. Won last out in a short route - his first placing and first money. 88K auction buy I'd like him to do better, of course. Others in this field look to be better. 8 27

Spin That Record - 2-year-old turf sprinter filly - second start, won first out. She's running in a NW2 in California with four others. Three are untried, one also won last out with the same SF (60). 2 58

Stepping Out - 3-year-old turf router gelding - won last out, running in a NW2 in Japan. I think he's going to prefer longer routes but there haven't been any in Japan yet. This is a full field of similar horses, so it'll depend on who pushes their way through, I think. 11 9

Summer Pleasure - 2-year-old turf router filly - hasn't done too well so far, one 2nd out of four starts. Running in a 15K maiden claimer in Florida. There are others that look better in this race. 2 58

Earnings for the night ; $34,590
