Friday Year 27 Week 2

29 running tonight as I continue to try to figure out the horses in my barn.

11 27

Garbo - 3-year-old dirt route filly - Homebred that had pretty good works and wings and broke her maiden with a 67. Since than she has disappointed on the track. May do better as she matures and the races get longer. Tonight it's a 15K NW2 and an eleven horse field. Best SF is 67. 9 34

Grateful Heart - 3-year-old dirt sprint filly - Steward-bred, stakes winner, coming off of a disappointing 8th place finish in a stakes at the end of the year. Tonight she's running in a 75K listed stakes, eleven horse field with some super strong competition. Best SF is 70. 4 58

Making Waves - 7-year-old dirt route gelding - Steward-bred, running in a 12K starter allowance, four horse field. Best SF is 79. 4 54

Moving Pictures - 3-year-old turf mile colt - Homebred that hasn't preformed as well as I had hoped. Running in a 15K allowance, five horse field. Best SF is 52.
5 40

Nuclear - 5-year-old dirt route gelding - He's been tailing off lately but still tries hard in all of his races. Tonight it's a sponsored 25K NW5, three horse field. Looks like he might come in second. Best SF is 71. 1 64

Shadowdancer - 5-year-old dirt sprint gelding - My very first breeding experience as a new player. Someone sent me a mare and told me who to breed her to - and I was guaranteed a winner. Yeah, well, that didn't happen. I still like him though and use him as a filler once in a while. Tonight he's running in a sponsored, restricted 10K claimer, five horse field and a 10K purse. Best SF is a 56. 5 48

There You Are - 3-year-old AW sprint colt - Homebred, if he doesn't do well tonight I'll switch him to dirt to see how he does. Running in a 12K MSW, eleven horse field. Best SF is 52. 2 53

Wednesday Year 27 Week 2

Mixed breed racing night. 21 running, a few stakes entries, and one homebred 2-year-old. I think most of the horses are running in some pretty short fields in condition-type races, many are unimpressive gallop horses.

Andover Starlet - 5-year-old trot mare - Third start for me, she's running in a 12K MSW, three horse field and two of the horses are AJ's. Best SF is 31. 1 29

Blue Hawaii - 3-year-old trot filly - First start for me, running in a 15K MSW, four horse field. Best SF is 50. 3 55

Carry Me - 4-year-old Appy filly - This will be her last year racing, she has three wins and two thirds in ten starts. Hope she can do well this last year. Actually prefers off tracks but she's running in a 50K listed stakes on a fast track, five horse field. It's a little shorter than she likes but I'm hoping she can be competitive here. Best SF is only 62. 5 37

Classic Gal - 4-year-old QH filly - Third start for me, running in a 10K allowance, six horse field. It's probably a little longer than she'll like. Best SF is 62. 5 45

Colors of the Day - 4-year-old Paint filly - Has a second and three thirds in five starts. Tonight she's running in a 10K MSW, four horse field. Best SF is a 61. 1 57

Combat Rock - 7-year-old Arabian horse - Out of his five wins, three have been in stakes, but unfortunately he struggles at times, I'm not really sure why. Tonight he's running in a 10K allowance, full field, where he should do well, I would love him to get his confidence back with a win. Either way I'll probably be retiring him after this year, I don't want to drop him into calimers. Best SF is 71. 4 66

D Express Train - 3-year-old QH gelding - Third start for me, running in a 10K NW2, six horse field where only two horses have a win. Best SF is 49. 4 51

Distance Deluxe - 4-year-old QH filly - Second start for me, running in a 10K MSW, four horse field. Best SF is 51. 2 46

Far More Class - 4-year-old Appy filly - Coming off of a maiden win at the end of last year, tonight she's running in a sponsored 25K NW2, four horse field. Best SF is 51. 3 45

Flash of Fire - 4-year-old trot colt - He has three wins, a second and three third place finishes in eleven starts., no stakes wins but has hit the board in stakes. Tonight he's running in a tough 50K listed stakes, seven horse field. Best SF is 67. 4 62

Golden Speed - 3-year-old Appy gelding - First start for me, running in a 10K MSW, three horse field. He raced once at 2 and got a 30 SF, his next three races were as an AJ filler so not really too sure of how he'll be. $10 AJ purchase. 3 38

Haunted Hayride - 2-year-old QH colt - My lone homebred sprinter, running in a 10K MSW, ten horse field. Others in this field look more likely, at least by works.
4 59

Hot Jail Bird - 3-year-old Pace gelding - First start for me, running in a 12K MSW, eight horse field. $10 AJ purchase. Best SF is 56. 3 51

It'sbiggerintexas - 3-year-old Appy colt - Trying him at a route to see if that might help him break his maiden. Running in a 25K sponsored MSW, three horse field. Best SF is 58. 1 59

Justin Credible - 4-year-old QH gelding - This horse has been such a pleasure to race. Five wins (one stakes), two seconds and one third place finish in eleven starts, only missing making money once. Hard-knocking, consistent guy who always gives his all. Tonight he's running in a 10K allowance with a full field. There's some monsters in here so he may not make any money tonight. Best SF is 67. 4 63

Marengo - 5-year-old Arabian horse - Galloped with wings and has decent works but can't seem to decide what distance he likes. Running in a 15K NW4, eight horse field where none have won three races. Best SF is 63. 3 62

One Night Wonder - 4-year-old QH gelding - Running in a 10K MSW, four horse field. Best SF is 47. 1 50

One Oh Five - 3-year-old Appy gelding - Third start for me, running in a 10K allowance, two horse field. This should be an easy win for the other horse in this match race. Best SF is 47. 1 53

Sohot - 3-year-old Pace colt - Third start for me, running in a 12K MSW, seven horse field. He galloped with wings. Best SF is 62. 1 62

Taiomah - 4-year-old Arabian gelding - Running in a 10K MSW, three horse field. Best Sf is 48. 2 34

The Cutting Edge - 3-year-old QH colt - Actually won a Grade 1 stakes last year and struggled ever since. I may have raced him a little too heavily, only time will tell. He should be well rested tonight for this 10K NW3, six horse field. Best SF is 67. 3 64

Earnings for the night - $62,080 (includes breeder awards for Colors of the Day and Setting the Mood - bred but not owned by me)

Monday Week 2 Year 27

Week 1 just seemed to fly by. 42 running tonight and there really is a little bit of everything in here.

Abacus - 4-year-old dirt route gelding - One of my earlier homebreds. Eight starts but still a maiden. He does have two seconds and two thirds to his credit, and it makes me feel a bit better that one of the horses in his race tonight has 25 starts and is still a maiden. He's running in a 10K MSW, four horse field - this is one of the new tracks in India. His best SF is a 54. 3 47

Acamas - 6-year-old chase gelding - I like him because he was one of the first gift foals ever given to me when I was brand new. He wasn't good on the flats and he's not very good as a chaser but I continue to run him anyway. Tonight he's in a 10K NW2, eight horse field. Best SF is 63 (chasing). 8 60

Autochthoe - 4-year-old turf sprint filly - I ran this poor girl for two years thinking her sire was a router only to discover at the end of her 3-year-old season that he was in fact, a sprinter. She has improved immensely in the two sprints I put her in. Tonight she's in a 22.5K maiden claimer with a full field and a 10K purse. Best SF is 58 (sprint). 6 39

Barefoot Dancer - 3-year-old AW mile filly - Winged runner that I am trying out on AW for the first time, since she seems to be struggling on the turf. Basically I've been using her as a filler, which she may remain. But I thought I'd give her a try here with no expectations. 12K MSW, eight horse field. Best SF is 55 (turf). 3 51

Broado - 5-year-old AW route mare - I was a little excited when I bought her for only $1 and she galloped with wings. She has a strong turf background but just wasn't cutting it as a racer - I began to understand why her original owner let her go for a buck. She's done a lot better since switching to AW. The only other problem I see with her is that I think she is probably a miler at heart, though she has won at a route. So that will be her next start. For tonight she's in a longish route 12K NW4, ten horse field. Since I'm just noticing that she will probably prefer a mile I won't be too disappointed if she doesn't do well here. Best SF is 65 (turf). 7 31

Capitulation - 5-year-old turf route mare - Still a maiden after 10 starts but she tries hard in each race and has won money in every start for me. Tonight it's a 10K MSW, eight horse field. Best SF is 55. 1 61

Chickesaw - 4-year-old AW route filly - Another winged galloper that seems to be doing better on AW. She's running in a race I sponsored for her, 25K NW3, five horse field. There are at least two that will make this a competitive race and may very well win. Best SF is 64 (dirt). 3 54

Culp's Hill - 3-year-old dirt route gelding - Fourth start, has a second and a fourth place finish in his previous three starts. Basically being used as a filler. Running tonight in a 17.5K allowance, five horse field. Best SF is 51. 5 42

Derby Hat - 5-year-old dirt route mare - This girl was such a nice buy for 5K. I bought her at the end of her 3-year-old season, still a maiden and coming off of a eighth place finish in an allowance. She is a prime example of why farm rest is so important. Her previous owner skipped that step and just shipped her from track to track. After a few weeks of farm rest she not only galloped with wings but she won first out for me with a 65, in her second start for me she came in third in a Grade 3 stakes and as a 4-year-old earned me over 40K. She's currently coming off of two back-to-back wins. Tonight she's running in a 12K allowance, ten horse field with some monsters in there so I'm not expecting a lot but I know she'll do her best either way. I look forward to having her as a broodmare at the end of this year. Best SF is 69. 7 58

Elfin - 2-year-old dirt sprint filly - Homebred with so-so works, running in a 15K MSW, five horse field, all are first time starters. 3 52

Epilogue - 3-year-old dirt mile filly - $10 AJ purchase with average works at a mile. Thought I'd give her a try because I like her sire. This is her third start running in a 24K MSW, ten horse field. Best SF is 27 (AW). 4 49

Fight For Her - 3-year-old dirt mile filly - Another $10 AJ purchase, this is only her second start. There's a chance she might make a decent steeplechaser. Thought I'd give her a try at a mile before making any decisions on her, stripped off all of the equipment that she started with. 12K MSW, eleven horse field. Her only SF is a 10 (at a route). 11 16

Fire in Track - 4-year-old dirt route filly - Yet another $10 AJ buy, has one start on turf. Galloped with wings. Running in a 15K MSW, four horse field. Best SF is 1 (on turf). 1 61

Flash Forward - 5-year-old dirt route mare - $10 AJ purchase, this is her first start. Running in a 20K MSW, five horse field. 4 37

Forever in Gold - 4-year-old turf route filly - Won first out at 2 and hasn't done much since. Running in a 25K sponsored NW2, four horse field. Best SF is 58.

4 43

Glorious Eyes - 4-year-old turf route filly - She's been fairly medocre, even as a filler, may prefer 7F. Running in a sponsored 25K NW2, four horse field, at the new track in Pakistan, along with stablemate Kindness. Best SF is 55. 3 47

Hold Your Horses - 3-year-old dirt mile colt - Homebred that has a second and a third in four starts. I had him entered in as a filler in a listed stakes race but a better horse showed up in the field of five so I switched him to this 15K NW2, nine horse field. He probably still doesn't stand much of a chance. Best SF is 59. 8 37

I Eat Cannibals - 4-year-old dirt route filly - Early homebred, has one third place finish out of seven starts. I might try her once more at a mile and that will be it. 12K MSW, seven horse field. Best SF is 40. 6 27

Irish Flight - 3-year-old dirt route filly - First start, $10 AJ buy, she was sent to AJ right after being foaled, she didn't even have a name, I thought she deserved a chance. She has only one work, 2F on turf, her dam was marginal on turf, her dam sire has winners on all surfaces, her sire has winners on dirt and AW. So I thought I'd start her out on dirt and than try her on AW. Running in a 15K allowance, four horse field, only one winner in the group. 3 46

Kindness - 4-year-old turf filly - Basically a filler, running in a 25K sponsored NW2 along with stablemate Glorious Eyes, four horse field. Best SF is 53. 4 34

Klatch - 2-year-old dirt colt - Homebred with not very good works though he did gallop HTT, will probably prefer longer but somehow I don't think it's going to matter too much either way. Running in a 12K MSW, five horse field. 5 42

Little Bit - 4-year-old chase filly - Early homebred, this is her first try chasing. 12K MSW, ten horse field. Best SF is 45 (dirt). 10 31

Live Life Dancing - 4-year-old AW route filly - Second start for me, second start on AW. Came in 2nd first out for me on AW. Tonight she's in a 25K maiden claimer, nine horse field and a purse of 12K. Best SF is 52 (AW). 3 46

Lobos - 4-year-old AW sprint filly - First start for me, $10 AJ buy, hasn't done well on turf so trying her on AW in a 12K MSW with a full field. Best SF is a 48 (turf).
9 20

Mean Joe - 4-year-old chase gelding - First start chasing, running in a 50K listed stakes, ten horse field. Best SF is 54 (dirt). 7 54

Meet Your Waterloo - 3-year-old dirt mile colt - Homebred, he's been OTB in all four of his starts. Tonight he's running in a 100K listed stakes, five horse field, where all entrants have won only one race. Best SF is 67. 1 65

Monster Heat - 4-year-old turf route filly - She has two wins and a second place finish in six starts. Running tonight in a 10K allowance, four horse field. Best SF is 59. 4 44

Orlando - 6-year-old chase gelding - Seven OTB finishes in twelve starts. Running in a 10K NW2 with a full field. Best chasing SF is 70. 8 46

Pay the Piper - 3-year-old dirt route colt - Homebred, this is his third start, running in a 15K maiden claimer with a full field and a 10K purse. Best SF is a 54. 5 44

Pizarro - 4-year-old turf route gelding - $10 AJ buy, first start for me, running in a 12K MSW, seven horse field. Best SF is 42. 5 43

Rhyme Nor Reason - 3-year-old dirt route filly - This is her third start, running in a 15K MSW, four horse field. Best SF is 38. 4 47

Ruling Planet - 2-year-old dirt sprint colt - Had average works, running in a 40K listed stakes, five horse field. 3 52

Sharp As Attack - 5-year-old dirt route horse - $10 AJ horse, galloped with wings, has one start at a sprint. Starting in a 15K MSW, five horse field. Best SF is 26 (sprint). 5 32

Silent Cry - 4-year-old chase gelding - Homebred, first start chasing in a 75K listed stakes, seven horse field where all are starting for the first time. Best SF is 55 (turf).
5 45

Stepping Out - 5-year-old turf gelding - Usually a filler but a sixth horse showed up in this 10K NW2, six horse field. Best SF is 60. 5 45

Take the Blame - 5-year-old dirt sprint gelding - Stewardbred, $10 AJ purchase, first start for me. Running in a 12K NW2, nine horse field. Best SF is 62. 5 45

Ultimate Best - 2-year-old dirt sprint filly - First start, running in a 12K MSW, five horse field. 1 63

Universite' Paris - 4-year-old chase colt - First start chasing, running in a 25K listed stakes, seven horse field. Best SF is 64 (turf). 7 36

Unvarnished - 3-year-old dirt route filly - Homebred, fourth start, has a win and a third in her three other starts. Came in a disappointing 8th last out in a NW2 at a mile. All three previous starts were at a mile so stretching her out here. Her sire has produced all distances. She's in another NW2 tonight, 15K purse and five horse field. Best SF is 60. 4 45

Up and Running - 5-year-old chase mare - $10 AJ purchase, first start chasing, has only one start over the flats with an eleventh placing. 12K MSW, ten horse field. Only SF is a 2 on turf. 10 28

Yawn - 4-year-old dirt route gelding - Has chase potential and will probably be switching him soon as he hasn't done too well on the flats, despite having good breeding. Tonight is a 12K MSW, four horse field. Best SF is 52. 2 51

You Need Your Head - 4-year-old turf route colt - Homebred, running in a 125K Grade 3 stakes, eight horse field at one of the new tracks in Pakistan. This race may be a little too long for him unless he has matured enough to handle it. This will be a tough race regardless, a lot of good horses in here. Best SF is 68. 2 64

Earnings for the night - $135,690 (includes breeder award for Meet Your Waterloo)

Sunday

Counting the mixed breeds, I have over 300 horses of racing age. 64 of them are 2-year-old routers or milers that won't race for a while yet. Even so, it's quite a hefty amount to be running. Over the next few weeks I'll probably be running a slew of horses to hopefully make some final decisions on what to do with some of them. Over this last week I've culled out roughly 30 horses just to keep from owning over 600 horses. I currently stand at 588 with 124 being yearlings or 2-year-old Arabians, 23 foals, 99 broodmares and 7 pensioners. Broodmares and racers I am constantly culling but want to make a serious effort in the next two weeks to get the racers down to around 200 or 500 overall horses whichever comes first. Though I will still be filling races whenever possible, I'll also be running horses in fuller fields to see if they actually have any real potential.

At least that's the plan.

Saturday

Looking at last nights races, I'm happiest with Unwritten Story winning her NW2 with a 72 speed figure. I was pretty happy with Vertical's second place in his stakes eventhough he only got a 62. For his first time out I'm still impressed with him. He should improve as the sprints get longer. Also happy with Night Race coming in second in her stakes and earning the most.

I also think it was a smart move to sponsor the AW race for Sambora and Coffee in Bed - really, it was for Sambora and just through in Coffee for the heck of it. They finished 1-2 so well worth it, I think.

My biggest disappointment of the night was probably Twice Raised, my steward bred, coming in fifth in her stakes.

All-in-all though, I only had two that didn't bring in any money, so I'm happy with that.

Just started setting up races for the coming week. I still have quite a few I need to get rid of.

Friday Week 1 Year 27

26 running tonight to finish off the first week back from break. A few 2-year-olds that I have hopes for, some old favorites and some I'm still trying to figure out!

Barrier - 2-year-old turf sprint colt - Winged homebred running in a 15K MSW with a full field at a short sprint. There's some speedy babies in this field, hope he can hold his own. 4 55

Be All - 4-year-old filly - Basically an all purpose filler, running in a 12K starter allowance, four horse field. Best speed figure is a 44. 3 43

Best Be There - 3-year-old dirt sprint colt - Homebred with two wins out of five starts, his other finishes were all fourths. Tonight he's running in a 100K listed stakes, five horse field. He might have a chance of hitting the board. Best SF is 66.
4 59

Brighter - 3-year-old dirt mile filly - She's running in a 100K listed stakes, five horse field over a sloppy track which she should like. There are two that will be battling for first and second in this race and than the rest is up for grabs. She has a shot at coming in third. Best SF is 62. 3 58

Cartoon Moon - 3-year-old dirt sprint filly - A $10 AJ purchase that hasn't raced since the middle of last year. She's well-bred but has been disappointing on the track. This is her first start for me, running in a 25K maiden claimer with a full field and a 10K purse. Her best SF has been a 45. 4 47

Coffee in Bed - 3-year-old AW mile filly - Homebred that hasn't preformed as well as I would have liked. She's trying AW for the first time tonight in a 25K MSW, that I sponsored, five horse field, including stablemate Sambora. Best SF (on dirt) is 61.
2 49

Discordant - 4-year-old turf mile filly - Another well-bred $10 AJ purchase that hasn't lived up to her breeding. This is her first start for me, running in a 15K MSW, seven horse field. This is her first start at a mile which may well be too long. Best SF is a 51. 6 38

Firey Diary - 4-year-old dirt filly - Another $10 AJ purchase racing for me for the first time tonight. This is her first time at a sprint in a 20K maiden claimer with a full field and a 20K purse. After this she'll go into the filler ranks if she still does poorly (expected). Best SF is 47. 12 13

Its All in My Head - 4-year-old turf filly - A filler for the turf, running in a 25K sponsored NW2, five horse field. Best speed figure is a 52. 5 32

Joyful Bliss - 4-year-old turf filly - A not very good homebred running at a mile for the first time in a sponsored 100K listed stakes, five horse field. She'll be last but still earn her keep. Best SF is 38. 5 38

Lie Low - 3-year-old dirt mile gelding - Homebred that has earned something in four out of five starts, though he's still a maiden. Tonight he's running in a 15K MSW with a full field. This is his first start at a mile. Best SF is 53. 6 43

Loki Past - 7-year-old dirt route gelding - Hard knocker with four wins and four seconds in eleven starts. Also just tested "potential" for chasing. Coming off of a win in a starter allowance at the end of last year, tonight it's another starter allowance for 12K, six horse field. This will probably be his last race before taking on the jumps. Best SF is 72. 1 67

Magic Mountain - 4-year-old turf route filly - Still a maiden but this wellbred filly tries hard and has been graded stakes placed. Tonight she's running in a 15K MSW, five horse field where she has a shot at breaking her maiden. Best SF is 57. 4 46

Milewalker - 5-year-old dirt route gelding - $10 AJ purchase running in a 15K MSW, four horse field. Only had one previous race at a mile with a SF of 52. 3 48

Nailah - 4-year-old dirt mile filly - Yet another $10 AJ buy, trying her first start on dirt and her first start for me. She's got sort of weird breeding so I'm starting her in a 22.5K maiden claimer, five horse field and a purse of 10K. She's been run on AW and turf (though her sire and dam are both dirt). Her best SF is 44 (turf and AW).
1 60

Night Melodies - 3-year-old turf mile filly - This is her first try at a mile also, she's been running in sprints where she has three 4ths out of four starts. Seems to be closing at the end so thought I would try stretching her out, her dam did well in routes. She's running in a 20K MSW, nine horse field. Best SF is 52 (sprint).
6 43

Night Race - 4-year-old turf sprint filly - She has three wins and a second in eight starts. She really belongs to Bryan Doolittle who gave her to me when she was 2 just to race and breed once. Would love to have her at least be stakes placed. She's in a tough 100K listed stakes, six horse field. Best SF is 67. 2 63

Nitric - 2-year-old dirt sprint colt - Winged homebred running in a 15K MSW, eight horse field. Had some decent works, he has a chance of getting up there at the end.
4 50

Notch - 2-year-old dirt sprint colt - Another winged homebred with some nice works. He's running in a 65K listed stakes, eight horse field. There's at least two with better or equal workouts. 4 54

Palm Beach - 4-year-old turf route filly - Usually a filler that earns her keep pretty well. She's running in a 25K MSW, four horse field. She has a decent shot at breaking her maiden in this race. Best SF is 57. 2 54

Sambora - 3-year-old AW mile filly - This is only her third start. Came in second last out in her first AW try at a route. So sponsored this race to try her at a mile. 25K MSW, five horse field including stablemate Coffee in Bed. She also had decent dirt works, her sire has offspring that have done well on all three surfaces so still trying to feel her out. Best SF is 50 (AW). 1 53

The Darkest Noir - 4-year-old turf route filly - I was thinking of trying her on AW but decided to put her into this sponsored 25K starter allowance, four horse field. I'll try to give her an AW workout inbetween races. Has two wins and a second place finish in eight starts. Thought she would be a chaser as her sire has produced some but she didn't. Best SF is 61. 1 65

The Move Man - 5-year-old dirt route horse - $10 AJ purchase, has one start on the wrong surface and distance. Tonight he's in a 15K MSW, five horse field. 5 32

Twice Raised - 3-year-old dirt sprint filly - Stewardbred - Broke her maiden last out, has hit the board in four of five starts. Tonight she's in a 100K listed stakes, six horse field. This should be a very competitive race, hoping she can at least hit the board. Best SF is 65. 5 52

Unwritten Story - 3-year-old dirt route filly - Winged homebred has a record of 4: 1-1-2 and is running in a 15K NW2 over a muddy track, which shouldn't bother her, eleven horse field. This looks pretty tough for a condition race, lots of fast ones in here. Hope she can do well. Best SF is 72. 1 72

Vertical - 2-year-old dirt sprint colt - Winged homebred with some fast works. He's one of my favorites out of this crop, I like his name and I like his breeding. His first start is in a 75K stakes, ten horse field. I think there's one or two that have better or as equal works. 2 62

Earnings for the night - $127,250 (Includes breeder award for Unwritten Story)

Thursday Week 1 Year 27

Looking at last nights mixed breeds races, I think the only horse that really impressed me was ny Arabian, Amir who was able to come in second in the Pollini Stakes. At 6 he is still pretty competitive.

I only had one horse not bring in any money from last nights races. Since most were fillers of one sort or another, I'm not too surprised. Glad I was still able to get 4 wins out of it.

Tomorrow nights TB races are another story. Not too many fillers in tomorrow, have to go and check tonight to see if there's any horses I have that could possibly fill some.

I've already bred 18 mares in this first week of Year 27.

Wednesday Week 1 Year 27

22 runners for the first night of mixed breed racing this year. No one special but hopefully they can bring in some bucks!

Amir - 6-year-old Arabian gelding - Getting older but still tries hard. Running in a 45K listed stakes, five horse field, over a muddy track. Best SF is a 68. 2 67

Butterfly Fly Away - 4-year-old Arabian filly - This is only her third start for me, still needs to break her maiden but I don't think it will be tonight in this sponsored 75K listed stakes, five horse field. Since I only paid $1 for her and she's made me 8K in her two starts I can't complain if she doesn't finish well here. Best SF is 44. 5 40

Drakar - 4-year-old trot gelding - Originally bought him for $100, he's made almost 10K mostly in maiden races, and yes, he's still a maiden, galloped with wings. Tonight he's running in a 12K MSW, three horse field - still don't think he'll get it tonight. Best SF is 40. 2 36

East New Yorker - 4-year-old Pace gelding - Another that I bought for $100 in the middle of last year. He's raced five times for me and brought in just about 12K, also mostly in maiden races. Another maiden race tonight with a five horse field and a 15K purse. There's a chance he might get there tonight. Best SF is 51. 1 47

Eatinaintcheatin - 3-year-old trot gelding - I paid 1K for this unimpressive trotter, he's only raced twice for me but he's made over 4K. Tonight it's a 25K claimer NW2, three horse field and a 12K purse. Best SF is 53. 2 49

Emotions in Motion - 4-year-old trot filly - I've really struggled to try to get this winged girl to break her maiden. She's got 5 OTB finishes in nine starts but she's still a maiden. Tonight it's a 12K MSW, three horse field - she has a shot. Best SF is 53.
1 51

High Falutin' - 3-year-old QH filly - She has three thirds and a fourth place finish in four starts, galloped with wings, hopefully she improves with age. Tonight she's running in a 10K MSW over a muddy track and a seven horse field. I think this is a little shorter than she really likes. Best SF is 66. 1 56

Hoodjer - 4-year-old trot gelding - Third start for me, pretty slow works. Running in a 15K MSW, five horse field. Best SF has been a 50. 3 38

Looks So Good - 3-year-old Paint filly - Third start for me, cost me $500 and has made me almost 7K in her two starts even though she galloped as unimpressive. Best SF is a 48. Running in a 10K MSW, five horse field. 3 46

Maliha - 4-year-old Arabian filly - First start for me, running in a 50K listed stakes, three horse field. She's way outclassed but will earn decent money for her first start for me. Best SF has been 51. 3 46

Mayday - 4-year-old Appy filly - One of my regular fillers running in a 10K MSW, five horse field. Best SF is a 49. 3 43

Muzelmien - 5-year-old Arabian gelding - Paid $2 for him and he galloped with wings. Still a maiden after eleven starts, though and only earnings of a little over 6K. But for $2 I can't complain. He's in a 10K MSW, four horse field. Best SF is 29.
3 26

Perfect Execution - 3-year-old QH gelding - Third start for me, stakes placed in his first two starts for me. Paid 3K for him but he's made over 22K in those two starts. Tonight it's just a 10K MSW, three horse field. Best SF is 60. 2 56

Play It By Ear - 3-year-old trot colt - Just broke his maiden last out, the only 3 yo runner for Midnight Tornado. Tonight he's running in a 15K NW2, six horse field, all appear to be well matched. Best SF is 63. 6 59

Please Try - 3-year-old trot filly - $10 AJ horse, never raced so this is her first start. Running in a 12K MSW, three horse field. She actually looks to have a shot here.
1

Red Mustang - 4-year-old Appy gelding - Bought for $10 last year, unimpressive gallop, he's made just about 10K. Running tonight in a 10K MSW, four horse field. Best SF is 45. 2 57

Solar Shadow - 3-year-old QH filly - Fourth start, has a second and a third in her previous three starts. Tonight it's a sponsored 25K MSW, six horse field. Best SF is a 56. 4 57

Vernea - 4-year-old Arabian filly - First start for me, running in a sponsored 25K NW2, four horse field. This is her first route start also. Best SF is 51. 3 42

Weekend Special - 3-year-old Appy filly - Third start for me, stakes placed in her first start in my stable. Galloped unimpressive. Running in a 10K MSW, five horse field. Best SF is 40. 5 30

Win I Did - 3-year-old QH colt - First start for me, running in a 10K NW2, five horse field. Best SF is 59. 5 51

Write This Filly - 3-year-old Pacer filly - Second start for me, galloped with wings but not very good workout times. Running in a 10K MSW, five horse field. Best SF is 54. 5 53

Zodiak Red - 3-year-old Paint filly - Running in a 10K MSW, four horse field. Best SF is a 49. He's probably going to be going to GP soon, hasn't even done very well as a filler. 4 46

Earnings for the night - $60,630

Tuesday Week 1 Year 27

Reflecting on last nights races, I have to say that I was most impressed with Shading's maiden win with a speed figure of 67 for her first time out. Wiring the field and still winning by a length. Hope she does as well as the races get longer.

Nebettawy also impressed me a lot even though she only won an allowance. She has two straight wins with one being a stakes and she improved her SF to 66. She was being pressured at the end but stayed in front.

Loqquacious Lark was also pretty impressive - especially for a $10 horse and 5 years old against younger too. He rated well and came on at the end with a 68 SF.

One of my biggest disappointments was Arctic Heat who did so well as a 2 year old. However, watching his race on the animator - he was coming on strong at the end and just ran out of real estate. I originally bred him to be router and he had excellent works for long distances. At 2 he did best at a mile and his sire has produced quite a lot of milers (though his sire is a router himself). So now I may try him at a route again.

Out of the 35 I had running only four didn't bring home any money which is a pretty good average, I think. I was pretty happy with my $10 AJ purchases, out of the 8 horses that ran they brought home over 15K. I think it averages out to almost 2K per horse, though most of it came from Loquacious Lark.

A few ended up going to Greener Pastures.

I think I should have picked up some mixers from the AJ $10 sale as I had a tough time filling races for tomorrow night - I just didn't have enough horses to do much.

Monday, Week 1, Year 27

Back to the races, woohoo!! Monday, Wednesday and Fridays have just not been the same without racing! So glad it's back! 35 running tonight, some 2-year-old sprinters, some of last years horses and some new ones bought cheap so I can decide if they stay or if they go!

Along for the Ride - 6-year-old dirt route horse - First start for me, one of the new $10 horses so I'm not really expecting too much from him. Trying him at a long route in a 10K MSW, seven horse field. He only has three lifetime starts, so I'll try him at a few different distances to see if he's got any good racing in him. 4 40

American Dixie - 2-year-old dirt sprint filly - First start, not a homebred but one I bought at auction for 50K who has had decent works and wings. Running in a 15K MSW with a full field, her workout times should make her fairly competitive with this group. 4 55

Arctic Heat - 3-year-old dirt mile colt - Homebred out of a CAM, he galloped with wings, has one win, a second and a fourth place finish in three starts. Tonight he's running in a 20K NW3, five horse field where only one horse has two wins. So far his top SF has been a 64. There are at least three that have had better speed figures.
4 55

Big Red Is Best - 4-year-old dirt route filly - Another recent $10 purchase, a CAH that was never raced. She's running in a 75K claimer with a 10K purse and a seven horse field. She galloped as "hard to tell". 4 44

Cherry Tree Lane - 3-year-old turf sprint filly - She hasn't raced since week 11 so I put her into this short sprint 10K MSW even though she seems to prefer a bit longer. It was what was available for her in South America where she has been stabled. Best SF has only been a 50. Seven horse field. 2 56

Eat and Run - 3-year-old dirt sprint colt - One of my HTT homebreds, he's hit the board three times out of five but still needs to break his maiden. Tonight he's running in a 15K NW2, five horse field. His best SF has only been a 59 which won't be enough to get it done here. 5 43

Face Value - 4-year-old any turf gelding - One of my earlier HTT homebreds that usually runs as a filler in South America. Best SF has been a 53. Tonight he's running in a 10K sprint MSW, three horse field. 1 54

First Extreme - 3-year-old dirt mile filly - Homebred (HTT) from a free mare lease that has been disappointing so far. Trying her at a mile for the first time tonight, in a 40K claimer with a 12K purse and an eleven horse field. Best SF thus far has been a 56. 11 19

Folk - 4-year-old dirt mile filly - Another early homebred (HTT) that has one win and two seconds in eight starts. Best SF has been a 57 and I use her more as a filler than anything. Tonight she's in a 25K sponsored NW4, four horse field including stablemate She's A Runner. 3 47

Golden Warrior - 4-year-old dirt route filly - Originally purchased for 50K as a yearling, she has four OTB finishes in nine starts but has made money in every start. Earnings are 57K, so she has at least earned back her purchase price. Coming off of a win over a muddy track with her highest SF of 66. Prefers the slop but couldn't find one for her tonight. She's running in a 25K sponsored NW3, five horse field at a marathon distance. 2 59

I Do What I Want - 4-year-old dirt route filly - Another early homebred (HTT), three OTB finishes in six starts but no wins, usually filling, best SF has been a 57. Running in a 20K MSW, six horse field. 3 51

Incite - 5-year-old chase horse - New $10 purchase, first start for me and first start chasing. Running in a 40K listed stakes, six horse field. Hasn't raced since week 12 of year 24. 5 64

Inthistwilight - 4-year-old any dirt filly - Will probably be her last race for me, I was only holding onto her to see if she might like chasing but she didn't. Tonight she's in a 20K allowance, five horse field. Her best SF has been a 42. 5 41

Isaidineedsomspace - 3-year-old dirt sprint filly - Originally purchased as a yearling for 5K, she's earned just shy of 30K and has one win and one third in four starts with the third coming in a Grade 2 stakes. Galloped with wings, best SF has been a 62. She's currently the leading earner for her sire - which probably isn't saying a lot. Tonight she's in a 75K listed stakes, four horse field, where she is probably outclassed. 3 58

Let There Be Love - 5-year-old turf sprint mare - Yet another $10 horse, only has three starts that she finished last in each one, thought she might make a chaser but didn't. She seems to be bred for dirt but has done so badly on dirt that I put her in a 15K MSW on turf with a four horse field. She has a tiny bit of turf in her pedigree. Hasn't raced since year 24. This will probably be her only race for me. 4 25

Loquacious Lark - 5-year-old dirt route horse - $10 purchase, has one win and one second in eight starts. Hasn't raced since the middle of year 25. Best SF was a 62 as a 2-year-old. Another that I was hoping would take to the jumps but didn't. He's running in a 15K NW2, ten horse field. 1 68

Matter of Trust - 4-year-old any dirt gelding - Another early homebred (HTT) that I've used mostly as a filler. Has one win and two thirds in nine starts. Best SF has been a 57, earnings just shy of 17K. He's running in a 125K Grade 3 stakes, five horse field, totally outclassed. 5 41

Miss Priceless Art - 2-year-old turf sprint filly - Purchased as a yearling for 50K, galloped with wings, had decent works. Running tonight in a 15K MSW with a full field. Had a decent AW work so if she doesn't do well on the turf I'll try switching her over. She has the best turf works in this group but ya just never know in races.
3 63

Nebettawy - 3-year-old dirt mile filly - Homebred who is coming off of a win in a 125K listed stakes with a high SF of 63. Tonight she's running in a 20K NW3, six horse field with none having more than one win. She should fit in with this group fairly well. Galloped HTT as a yearling and wings as a 2-year-old. 1 66

Norm - 3-year-old dirt sprint colt - Originally purchased as a 2K (HTT) yearling at auction. Has one win and a third and two fourth place finishes in four starts and earnings of a little over 18K. Best SF has been a 57. Tonight he's in a 50K listed stakes, four horse field, the other three have better speed figures. 4 50

Paper in Fire - 3-year-old AW gelding - Homebred (HTT) that was a twin. Hasn't done too well on dirt, trying him on AW for the first time tonight. On dirt his highest SF was a 48. Tonight he's running in a 32K maiden claimer with a nine horse field and a purse of 15K. 7 28

Personal Demon - 4-year-old turf mile gelding - Early homebred (HTT), has a win and a second in six starts, best SF is a 56. Running tonight in a 15K NW2, eleven horse field. 4 52

Philadelphia Flyer - 7-year-old chase gelding - Second start chasing in s 10K MSW, four horse field. Earned 98K on the flat with a highest SF of 68. Just noticed that he ran on Monday of week 16 - argh!! Hope he comes out of this okay. Vet says he's sound but shouldn't race for a few days. Double argh!!!!! How could I have not noticed that??? 2 61

Point Royale - 5-year-old chase gelding - Not that great on the flats and not that great chasing either. Originally a 10K purchase as a gelding. He's made over 30K so not too bad. Best chasing SF is 61. Running in a 75K Grade 3 stakes, four horse field.
4 52

San Francisco Mist - 5-year-old dirt route gelding - First race for me. $10 steward bred purchase, has six OTB finishes in ten starts. Best SF was a 62. Running in a 45K claimer with a eight horse field and a purse of 10K. 3 56

Sancta Basilica - 4-year-old chase filly - First start as a chaser running in a 7.5K MSW with a full field. 9 43

Sensual Hall - 5-year-old dirt route mare - $10 AJ purchase, first start for me. She has some really good breeding has one win and a third in only four starts. Running in a 15K allowance, five horse field. If she doesn't do well here I'll cut her back to a mile and see how she does. Best SF is a 58. 5 45

Shading - 2-year-old dirt sprint filly - Homebred that galloped with wings and had decent works, including one on AW. Running in a 12K MSW with a full field. 1 67

Shaedra - 4-year-old turf route gelding - Running in a 15K NW2 with a full field. Should have probably looked for a softer spot for him. Best SF is a 62. 2 62

She's a Runner - 4-year-old any dirt filly - Older homebred (HTT) usually run as a filler. Running in a sponsored 25K NW4 along with stablemate Folk, four horse field. Best SF has been a 63. 2 59

Strange Meeting - 4-year-old any dirt filly - Originally purchased as a yearling for 10K, has earnings of 25K. Running in a 100K Grade 3 stakes, five horse field.

5 47

Summa Theologica - 4-year-old AW mile filly - Bought for $1 and has made 10K for me in four starts. Tonight she's running in a 12K NW2, five horse field.
5 36

Texas Smile - 3-year-old AW mile colt - Second start for me, first start on AW. Running in a 32K maiden claimer, seven horse field and a 15K purse. 6 35

Weeman - 5-year-old dirt route gelding - Another $10 horse, CAH that was only run once (year 25) on turf. Running in a 32K maiden claimer, five horse field and a 15K purse. 2 54

Zip Zip - 4-year-old dirt sprint filly - $10 purchase with only two starts, running in a 7K allowance, five horse field. 5 42

Break

I bred my eight oldest TB mares today, they ranged in age from 12 to 14. Only three of the eight died while foaling, two were 14 and one was 13. So I still have one 14 year old, one 13 year old and three 12 year olds for next year. I ended up with five fillies and three colts using the random button on all of them. I spent 62K altogether on the eight mares, most were not the best mares but I felt too old to sell and thought I'd give them a last hurrah breeding. However I was unwilling to spend too much on most of them. I think it averages out to only 8K per mare, though some I spent quite a bit more and some I spent less.

Otherwise everyone just seems to be waiting around for racing to start again. We'll be able to start entering races on Monday however racing really won't begin until 19th.

New Year 27

The new SIM year turned over on Friday and unfortunately I ended up withe four 2-year-olds with bucked shins and one barren broodmare. One of the babies is a sprinter so will be affected more than the others.

Finally got all 100 of my SIMMY votes done yesterday. Whew! I was surprised to see my one Appy colt Hotter Than Mojave up for a SIMMY as I often think of him as being a bit disappointing overall. However, when voting on most of the mixed breeds I noticed quite a few divisions that are lacking for talent with very few clear cut winners. One category only had one horse. Hopefully as the years pass and more breeding is done and we eventually start to see better studs put up this will improve.

Speaking of Hotter Than Mojave, I've had quite a few inquiries as to whether he will be up for stud at the end of this year. It made me look at him closer. Unless he matures as a 4-year-old and improves his consistency I can't see putting him up. Number one, he doesn't have the earnings at this point. Number two, he is not a consistent stakes winner. He has four wins, with only two being stakes. The only graded stakes he ran in was at two and he finished seventh. I just feel there's enough mediocre studs out there at this point that another won't help anything. So, here's hoping that he matures this year and shows some stud-worthy form.

Alexandra Jaysman is running her usual once-a-year $10 sale of horses that have been sent to Greener Pastures. Rather than look through the hundreds of horses individually, I decided to do a search using some of the top breeders in the game. I was looking for fillies and mares that may not be doing too well on the track but have dam's or grand dam's that earned seven figures or produced seven figure offspring. I actually found quite a few, in excess of ten which is the limit for a day. So over two days I picked up maybe 15. Only a few have already been retired, most are still racing, which is good because it will give me a chance to tweak their stats as fillers if I have to. I don't know if this experiment will pay off in the end but I thought it was at least worth a shot since I was getting the mares dirt cheap and they have strong female families. A few may have chasing potential also since none of the one's I bought have been trained to jump.

I still have about 55 yearlings to name but I'm in no hurry and may wait until they gallop in week one.

I haven't started doing any serious breeding yet, though I did pick up two trotter mares that another player had up in the forum for 5K each. They were both mares from the last AJ broodmare dispersal and had galloped with wings. So, of course, I bred them to Midnight Tornado first off this year. Also one CAM trotter mare that I created last year as a handicapping prize as a free lease. I was thinking I could probably sell off most of my trotter mares this year but than I was thinking that since Cash Call has retired Money and Music might have a chance of winning some stakes if I can keep him out of half-brother Goldigga's way. If he does well and I retire him, I'll need all of the broodmares for him.

I have eight broodmares that will potentially die while foaling this year as they are at the age of 12 or above. All are TB's and will probably be the first that I breed just to get that out of the way.

I think that most of us are just marking time until the beginning of racing starts again.
